Lagos
Everything Nigeria imports arrives here, and everything Lagos eats arrives from somewhere else. That exchange is the whole city.
The city
Lagos stopped being the capital in 1991 and never stopped being the centre. It is where the country meets the sea: two of Nigeria's largest seaports sit inside the city, and almost everything that enters the country by container leaves their gates on a truck. The city is built across islands, a lagoon and a mainland, held together by a handful of bridges — which is why a generation of Lagosians measure distance in fares rather than kilometres, from the window of a yellow danfo.
Lagos in Ekene
Lagos is a metropolis on the map, in the South West zone, and at ƙ1,000,000 it is the most expensive city in the game to unlock — a deliberate late-game target rather than an early purchase. A company founded in Owo sees it named on the founding card from the first day: Lagos is the dream. Its motor park runs the busiest boards in the game — the most waiting to move, and the most competition for it.
The special vehicle: the Molue
Unlocking Lagos puts the Molue in your Motor Shop — no other city grants it, and it works from anywhere once earned. ƙ500,000 buys twenty-five slots of passengers and animals — no cargo; the Molue is a people-mover, the high-sided Lagos bus of song and memory. It is not fast and it does not go far (300 km), and its fares run cheap — the Molue earns by carrying everyone, not by charging anyone much.
In the motor park
The park reflects the city. The Slay Queen waits here more often than anywhere else in Nigeria, and the Afrobeats Star — a metropolis rider — leans Lagos when choosing a stage. Twins ride pronounced across the whole South West, and Mami Wata favours the water cities, Lagos among them. On the goods side it is the trade the city actually runs: electronics, cocoa from the belt, palm oil, and the perishable coast — fresh fish and prawns that pay a premium and race the clock — with parrots and bush babies riding out of the rainforest belt in the right cage.
